Once your masterpiece has been created there are a number of steps needed to get it in front of the public.
- Your document or graphic novel needs to be proofed for sentence structure and spelling. You have looked at the words for a long time; you will miss things.
- Your book needs to be edited. Editing is checking the book for consistency of voice, clearness of language, effectiveness of presentation and other potential improvements.
- Your book will need a cover. Cover design is important as it is the front door into your created world.
- Publishers (Distributors) are looking for certain document layouts and file formats. Your book needs to be prepared so that it can be submitted.
- You will need to get an ISBN for each version of your book (e.g., print and eBook). An ISBN is a unique book identifier that distributors use. If you are wanting to place your book in book stores and/or libraries you will also need a bar code that contains the ISBN and list price of the book.
